The much awaited European i-gaming expo is due to be held in Barcelona from 23-25 September 2008. The European Interactive Gaming (EIG) is a body which addresses the issues facing the i-gaming businesses in regards to the European market. It has been announced that this year the EIG panels will concentrate on more in-depth topics such as commercial opportunities, revenue growth and operational improvements in marketing, technology, emerging markets and in particular the legal matters of the US UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) law.
UIGEA has been the hot news recently in the gaming industry and has been immensely refuted by the European gaming companies. The US has been accused of the unfair restrictions that has been put on online gambling and their monopolisation of the online market. The European gambling companies are not allowed by the US government to promote their products and profoundly condemns any attempts to lure American players to register in the online UK bingo sites. The effect of this law is huge on the European market especially for countries where gambling is the main source of revenue.
This event is usually attended by the big online gaming players. Frank Catania, manager of the player defense and standards body eCOGRA (e-commerce online gaming regulation and assurance) and president of Catania Consulting Group heads the list of the respected and well established guests. Any organization who wants to take part in this event must book their place now to avoid any inconvenience later. This will be a great opportunity for those interested to take part in these discussions and also contribute in providing solutions. This event will be indeed in much anticipation amongst the gaming community.
