The much hyped news over the trade dispute between Antigua and the United States continues as a new agreement deadline is set for 1st October. The history behind this dispute dates back to 2003 when Antigua sued the U.S over its prohibition to legalize online gaming. Antigua is a tiny island in the Caribbean and after tourism online gambling and casinos is its second largest source of revenue.
The Bush government signed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) which puts a legal ban on online gambling in the U.S. Antigua is on its stance that the U.S. is in violation of its World Trade Organization (WTO) obligation to offer fair trade to foreign gambling companies such as the EU, Japan and others.
All of the Online Bingo gaming fraternity will be in much anticipation on the outcome of this case especially Antigua as it heavily depends on gambling revenue to support its people. This will also open doors on the US ban which is still a very big and lucrative market for the Online Bingo Sites.
